lg 4x HD does not recognize sim

As the question states. My phone does not read my sim card. I have a back-up phone in which the sim-card works. Any idea what the problem might be.

Ps i know it is my second post but the post is gone.

May be the phone is locked in to a particular network provider, but the SIM is for a different network provider.
