Unless I'm missing something and carriers actually pay more for each phone than Google sells it through the Play store, carriers are making a killing selling contracts with the N4's we were all waiting to buy from Google.

What do you have against LG? They are my go-to electronics company for anything other than the ultra-high-end...

I don't know of any carriers in the U.S. other than T-Mo that were said to have the N4 and even they couldn't get it in stock or have a floor model. I really don't know what the problem is. It has been out of stock on the Play store for like a month. I ordered mine on Nov 30 and it arrived Dec 31. It is a nice phone. My biggest complaints are battery life (I can barely make it from 8am to 8pm with moderate use), the speaker is in an awkward spot and isn't too powerful, but adequate, and the ear speaker is very weak. I sometimes have issues hearing certain callers even with the volume at max.

No, Google bought Motorola for the patents portfolio (at least originally). Also, if they immediately started giving Moto preferential treatment, their partners will be pissed off and could start shifting to other platforms (if that was viable anyway).

Not saying that I think the statement is invalid, but I hate how they always headline these articles as if they were a fact, always citing 'anonymous' persons as the source, or using unreliable sources such as Digitimes.

Well I'd imagine that they weren't authorized to speak on the company's behalf. Or their name (in Korean) would be unintelligible in the English so they just didn't name him/her.
