LG Flatron W2242TQ Problem

So my brother gave me his monitor today because he recently purchased a new one. I tried seeing if it would work by just plugging it in with just the power cord. It works but the LG Logo would pop up for maybe 5-6 seconds then it would show the typical "No Signal" message, but then the screen would just turn black.

The problem is it doesn't fully go black, I can still see the "No Signal" message but its barely visible and I had to use the flash on my phone to see the little colored bubbles that went with the text.

If anyone knows the cause of this problem and a fix for it i'd gladly appreciate it, thanks!

The cause of WHAT problem?
From your description its apparently working normally.
You only have power plugged in so it is not getting a video signal for which it displays the No Signal and shortly thereafter it powers down the backlight to save energy.

i can hardly see anything its not the backlight

Powering down the backlighting or no backlighting would do exactly as you described, why do you believe that this is not the problem?

When you power on the display, press the menu button will it light back up or stay lit up?

plug it into a computer as appears to be alright according to the video.
