LG W2261VP-PF hdmi connected to pc no sound

i just purchsed LG W2261VP-PF 2nd hand the monitor is connected via hdmi to pc

my pc

i7 6700k
z170m plus
gtx 980
16gb ram
win 7

the monitor has a ear phone jack and it works but no sound via monitor how come , i have another monitor similar to this that had sound ?.

the monitor has menu buttons i can increase and decrease sound bars but where is the sound what settting i should setup or check on pc please help.

Make sure your sound drivers are up-to-date, then follow these steps:
1. Go to control panel
2. Go to hardware and sound
3. Go to sound
Check that your monitor is selected as the default device.
It's probably a driver problem.
Are you sure you plugged the jack into the right port on the back of your pc?

That monitor doesn't have speakers , it has a digitial to analog converter & a headphone jack just so you can pass HDMI audio to a powered speaker set without any messing about.

That's what the volume controls relate to.
