You did not state the exact model of motherboard, but i assume it takes full advantage of the h61express chipset capabilities.
So it should work with this ones
http://www.cpu-upgrade.com/mb-Intel_(chipsets)/H61_Express.html
For example these are the cpu's supported by intel boards:
https://www.intel.com/content/www/u...000005588/boards-and-kits/desktop-boards.html
And these are for some random gigabyte boards with h61
https://www.gigabyte.com/Ajax/Suppo...el Socket 1155&Chipest=Intel H61&Type=Chipest
So it will likely work. To be 100% sure just check the cpu-support list for your exact board (manufacturer and model)
Before changing the cpu,
update the bios to the latest version. This is very important as newer cpu's were added on the support list by providing new bios version.
And after that is just about changing the CPU and
reset the bios (there is a jumper, or CC button, or remove battery for few seconds)
Check bios setting for your preference then boot up and see if any software is bothered by the new cpu (it should't anyway).
So in short, yes, it's just as easy to drop in the new cpu, and not necessarily required but recommended to reset the bios jumper
