LGA 2011 and LGA 2011-v3; water cooling blocks the same?

I'm looking at the Swiftech H240x based on a recommendation found here. My question is that the specs say the kit includes a backplate for LGA 2011, but my mobo is an Asus X99-M WS with an LGA 2011-v3 socket. Will the 2011 backplate work with a 2011-v3? I think this kit might be just the thing for me if it will fit.

yes both those sockets have the same 80mm x 80mm hole spread to mount a cooler to it. 2011 socket also shares the same mounting holes as the 1366 socket.

1156, 1155, 1150, and 1151 all share the same 75mm x 75mm mounting holes

You can't use a back plate with that motherboard. The mounting holes do not go through to the back of the motherboard.

Sad to hear. I guess it's back to the drawing board for cooling. I originally wanted to go with a Cryorig R1 or a Noctua NH D15, but it looks like I would have problems clearing my RAM, which I have already bought. (I won't be installing the fans that came with the RAM.)

...aaand, it wouldn't matter anyway since both of these require a backplate as well. I forgot. 😳

Any suggestions for cooling?

I never said it would not work just the fact that you can't use a back plate it should just screw down into the mounting holes on the board, you would need to double check the threads first.
This guy is using a H100i on a Asus board that has the same mounting configuration as the board you picked.

I'll check it out. I've seen a lot of articles about guys watercooling the X99-E WS, I just assumed that it was different than the X99-M WS in regards to the mounting holes.

From the pictures of the motherboard the mounting would be the exact same, the spacing is the same and I see no reason why they would change the cooler mounting.

So I can see that the holes are threaded. Are these thread sizes standard, and are they typically the same as water blocks and backing plates? Or do they vary from manufacturer to manufacturer?
