Hi,
I want to know is there anything else that i can use instead of that lga 771 adapter for modding xeon processor to 775 socket mobo?
I'm from Pakistan and ebay/amazon does not ship to my country, also aliexpress has some issues shipping here.
I have search each and every place in my local area PC shops but sadly i cant find them.
Also i saw a video where a guy used a tape on Q6600 to unlock that full capacity FSB, i know its irrelevant but can i use a simple tape on those two points?
I have attached an image of a adapter im talking about.
Please let me know if there is any possible way to do that.
Thanks

Yes, i was not sure if that work, i was thinking of putting tape on those two points of processor.
Thankyou,
Im doing it now.

Ok, so after doing everything,
First it was only rebooting again n again than i reseated Processor now im not getting any display
-Motherboard = Asus P5K-V
-Updated Bios
-Reset CMOS
-Previous Processor worked for once than its also not working any more.
-GPU fan, motherboard Light, CPU Cooler fan is running.
but still No Luck 🙁

Did you make sure that it had the correct bios ? for the 771 series some of them will work but some have a lot of issues.
You really have to make sure you have all the micrcode updated. there are several videos around on this.

Yes i downloaded that bios from a site specially for xeon 771 mod.
This issue ( showing no display + old processor not working ) happend when i accidently inserted wrong side of x5460 and ran a computer, after that there is no display not even on old processor, also no beeps n stuff.

Shorted a mobo or cpu ?
Coz all other things like fans of cpu, gpu n case are running

working already::??

Fans are spinning but there is no display or no beeps

Yes sadly motherboard is dead.
I test my Q9400 on other motherboard and its working fine.
Looks like it was a bad idea to put x5460 wrong in the motherboard socket.

Nah, it was my mistake.
I shouldnt seated the CPU wrongly.
Now im worried if my Xeon is also got fried.
