Question LGA1150 MB not seeing 2nd stick of RAM

Here is a strange one. I have 2 LGA1150 motherboards one is a Gigabyte and the other a Asus. I also have 2 different CPUs that fit both. The problem is when I try to add a second stick of RAM to either board they do not see it. On the Asus board it won't boot and on the GB board it just doesn't see it. Both sticks work when tested separately on both boards. The RAM is a matched pair so there should be not issues there. Have I just be unlucky with having 2 boards with the same fault. The RAM is DDR3 1160.

You will need to be specific with the make and model of your components. That doesn't leave out the boards and your ram sticks. Then there's the matter about what BIOS both boards are running on...?

Which slots are you trying to populate on the board? Have you tried running the stick that doesn't work as a stand alone stick of ram?
