LGA775 build for light gaming

Hey, so I have a Gigabyte GA-G41M-Combo (rev. 1.3) and currently I have it built with a Nvidia GT430 and a Intel Duo E6700.

I'm thinking to give this pc to my younger brother but as it is it's pretty bad. I was thinking putting 16gb ddrd2 ram and a Q8400 in it but i don't know what GPU to pair it with? Maybe a GTX 750Ti?

All sugestions are welcomed thanks.

Unfortunately, that board only accepts up to 8GB DDR2 RAM. The Q8400 is a decent choice, but the gfx card will depend on the budget and the PSU size/make/model. I would opt for a GTX 1050 Ti, myself. That will play games at 1080p better.

Don't forget, the board's odd-ball G41 Express chipset needs low-density RAM. Example
Most new stuff found today is high-density.

I decided to opt for the Q6700 and have been searching and found a HD7870 for 60£. What do you think of this?

The HD 7870 falls in between the GTX 750 Ti and GTX 1050 Ti in performance. About the equivalent of the GTX 1050. It will be fine if you have a good quality 500W or better PSU with 2 x 6-pin connectors (or whatever that model 7870 requires).

I chose to go with the S12II-520W. Is it good enough?
