Hello!
I have a problem with my monitor/graphics card. My monitor has a very strong light blue tint, and I can't seem to get rid of it. I've tried to fix it by doing stuff with the cord, and that wouldn't work. I have two monitors and one is working all fine, but the other one is blueish. The other one is using HDMI. I've tried the monitor in another computer, so it's not the monitor ((it worked all fine and all)). This all started to happen now, I haven't used the computer in a very long while.. I actually unplugged the graphics card for a couple of months and all. Do you think it could be something wrong with the connection between my motherboard and graphics card? Or would that be impossible?? Give me any solutions please!! I've tried using other cords too! So it's not that.

Things I've done or just cant do.

Checked if it's my software, fiddling with the cord, taken out and in my graphics card from my monitor. Tried my monitor in another computer (as I mentioned before, that worked, but didn't fix my problem with this computer), See if it was on the other end of the cord that was the problem..

What I can't do.

Get another graphics card/monitor, or another cord than these I've tried.
I'll probably list more here as people answer.

Specs:

Graphics card: AMD Radeon HD 6950 XFX Dual-fan edition

It sounds more like it is either the connection on your graphics card, or the cable you are using is faulty. If you have on board graphics, you could try connecting the monitor to that...if the issue persists, then you can narrow it down to the cable.

I'm using VGA on my monitor, then I have an adapter to my graphics card which is DVI. I've tried to do stuff to fix the connection, but it wont work, I'm a solid 100% sure that it is something wrong with the connection to that adapter and graphics card. I've tried different adapters and cords so.. I'm also sure that it is my graphics card.

Yeah, If you have narrowed down with other adapters and cables, then you might be correct. Is that the only output connection on the card? No HDMI or VGA on it to test on? Certainly the blue tint is to do with pins not contacting correctly/fully.

Well, I have a HDMI monitor connected, and that works perfectly, so it has to do with the pins and stuff, but how would I fix that?

EDIT: It's surely the pins on my graphics card, or something, the input looks mangled. I have 3 adapters, two which look like a normal DVI, and the one I've tried a lot, which was the DVI-A one. Looks like one of the DVI one had broken pins that were bent, so I tried another DVI one that looked pretty ok, but it's still light blue!! How would I fix the "mangled" input on my graphics card?

If there is a faulty pin within the cards DVI port, then you cannot do much about that without getting a magnifying glass to the ports solder joints on the PCB and if you find anything wrong, resoldering it. That is if you are sure that it's definitely not the DVI adapter or cable causing it. They are more likely to be the culprit rather than the port on the actual card. Can you not use the VGA cable to your monitor and just not use the DVI port?

*edit* - If you've discovered that the port is "mangled" then any attempt at repair may be fruitless.....Can you just use the VGA port, or else get yourself a new GPU.

Back when I used DVI, I sometimes had to wiggle the cable around or pick it up and drop it since it was quite sensitive. I'd imagine you've already tried that, though.

Do you have any more open ports? (DisplayPort?)
