[SOLVED] Light flashes, small beep, then nothing ?

Hello! We are building a tower for the first time and I've gone through the motherboard manual to plug everything in. It just gives a brief flash, fans spin, little beep then nothing. I've taken close up pics of the Cpu socket and unless I'm imagining it I think one or two pins are bent. It's a new motherboard, but maybe my son was too forceful with it. Can I rescue it?

yes, try using the barrel of a mechanical pencil to straighten the pins and maybe a credit card to align - it will be a time-consuming process with so many pins

Thank you! The pins are flattened on our old motherboard, so I think they are OK, but there seem to be two or three out of alignment. I'll give that a bash later!
