Hello,,
I've seen other threads tackling the same subject, but the newest one dates back to 2014. Right now, 2017, what's the lightest antivirus, that won't use much of my resources? My netbook is ancient.
Thanks,,

If you are using windows 7 and below Microsoft security essentials is good. If you are using windows 8 or up it has a built in version of it so non needed. Also you are the best antivirus.

It's running fine on my wife's old laptop (Vista/3GB RAM) and doesn't affect performance to any noticeable degree.
As long as it's virus definitions are kept up to date it really doesn't matter if the actual AV software/program is 3 or 4 years old. The age of the virus definitions is what matters most.
