Hey all, now I'm someone who uses a computer easily 8+ hours a day, between home and on campus. I already wear glasses and I'd like to reduce eye strain as much as possible.

Other then everything else I already do, I've been hearing a lot of people recommend LED lighting behind your monitor. Either using LED strips or even more hardcore things such as Antumbra's product with colour changing light, depending on what you are viewing.

In Short; Do any of you guys use lighting behind your monitor? Do you find that it's helped at all and what setup would you recommend? If I would go for something, USB powered would be ideal.

Thanks for any input guys.

Solution
I sit in front of my computer almost all day, every day. I do not have special lighting in here, I do wear glasses, and I am just fine. I normally wake up just before the sun comes up, and with a few breaks here and there some days, I am often still sitting here till near midnight answering questions and trying to help people resolve their problems. This room ranges from semi-dark to very well lit due to the sun shining on the window behind my monitor in the morning. I did buy a keyboard that was backlit so that I could actually see where the keys were in the semi-darkness.

Hey Mark, that's why I think it would be optimal in semi-darkness, since as you mentioned. I also use my PC at all times of the day/night.

Suzuki, I'm aware of matching the brightness in your room with your monitor, this is the whole purpose of wanting these LED lights behind the monitor to create more of a blended environment. Also I would be using a white light as well, only time I probably wouldn't would be if I'd go for the Antumbra, which creates the same background light as what you are viewing, but I think that would be somewhat distracting.

Lol, lucky you. I have to go a little further, since I'm constantly on a computer. Also it's winter here so not much natural light. I just want to find some LCD light strips that can be powered viva USB, I'm just struggling to find some that aren't online.
