LILO vs GRUB vs NTLDR

I currently use NTLDR to boot my system. I wondered, is it easy (easier?) to boot with LILO or GRUB, or is it not worth the bother?

Currently, I boot Redhat/Win2K/Win98/DOS off one drive with various partitions. Win98 and DOS are in the same one, can this create any problems for LILO?

Lastly, I heard that LILO can have a graphical screen (*dribbles*). Although this is the least of my worries, what does it look like, and can you use it to impress your friends, who still use NTLDR? 🙂 Hmm...

Currently LILO works in text mode and just defaults to Redhat...

Yeah, LILO can have a graphical screen (at least in Mandrake)...Look for a tool do do that, maybe under the "boot" section of your foot menu?

The Mandrake LILO boot screen is very good looking but the problem with the graphical screen is that the refresh rate is horrible.

If you want to use LILO to boot other OSs, just add the appropriate sections to your /etc/lilo.conf file...But I'm sure that RedHat has an easy to use tool for that.

Graphical LILO for Mandrake does look nicer than text LILO, but it's just for show. You get a decent blue graphical screen with your boot options in the upper right corner. One is highlighted, and you use up/down arrows to select whatever you want.
