A few months ago I turned off my monitor for a week and when i trurned it back on there was a thin black line across the screen. Every few days since then the lines increased until they covered most of the screen but you could still see through them. A few weeks later green and purple lines started appearing that ruin the display and i cant see anything because of them. Is there anyway that i could stop them from increasing or if i can reverse the effect

When posting a thread of troubleshooting nature, it's customary to include your full system's specs. Please list the specs to your build like so:
CPU:
CPU cooler:
Motherboard:
Ram:
SSD/HDD:
GPU:
PSU:
Chassis:
OS:
Monitor:
include the age of the PSU apart from it's make and model. BIOS version for your motherboard at this moment of time?

There's only so much you can explain with text, when you need to rely on other forms of media to illustrate the issue at hand. You might want to include an image/video of what you're seeing.

It has nothing to do with my computer because i see the lines no matter what i connect to the monitor. I see it when connecting my ps4 too. My monitor is from mag but i can't get the specific model right now

Have you tried a different cable? If yes
is there another port on the monitor you can try?
if the above doesn’t help you have already tried it on 2 different devices I would suggest contacting the manufacturer as it may be covered under warrant, if your in the UK then they are meant to be fit for purpose for 6 years, but you have to prove you have not damaged the device.
