I have a Linksys BEFSR41 V3 router with port forwarding enabled for Ports 80 & 5000 (TCP for both) directly to my Synology (DS214Play) NAS which has a static IP address.

I already registered the NAS for DDNS which assigned me a personal ***.synology.me account.

The status of the NAS at myds.synology.com AS WELL AS IN THE "External Access" setting in NAS Control Panel is NORMAL.

BUT.....I can't access my NAS via ***.synology.me? I even called a friend of mine and asked him to enter my router's external IP address in his web browser and he got no response. My router's log did not show that any incoming connection attempt was made.

I even went as far as enabling DMZ on my router and that had no effect.

Is it my router? Is it outdated? Perhaps my ISP (Optimum)?

Please help!

Can you acces it locally ?

If so, it might be the router has issues.

I have installed many cemeras in houses and companies.

Most of the time, when I could not access them was because the router wasn't compatible.

The only solution was to change the router to another brand.
And guess what, most of the newer linksys didin't work while asus and dlink's would work fine.

one last hope I have for you is be sure to have the newest frameware on the router.

I can access it at *.synology.me when I use my browser on my own PC.
My browser actually implicitly changes the address to *.synology.me:5000/

I actually ordered a new TRENDNET AC1900 router earlier this week for an unrelated reason but since I opted for NewEgg's free shipping option it is taking it's sweet time making it across the country from CA to NJ. My order from NewEgg the previous week arrived the next day with the same shipping method. Go figure.
