Hey everyone! I asked a question yesterday about optimizing my network setup to account for periodic tripling in traffic and the subsequent slow downs and disconnection issues - and received some good advice I am working on implementing. Today I am asking for help regarding another issue I've had for a while. I have a linksys e2500 dual band router, and for about four months I have had issues accessing the webui.
Four months ago I replaced an old 75ft cat5 cable that went from the router to pc my - it had been mangled by an animal - with a new 100ft cat5 cable that I purchased from newegg. Everything aside from accessing the router configuration page seems to work just fine, but when I go to configure it or change anything, it will hang, and eventually time out. I can, at most, access two pages before I have to re-login and try again. I have dealt with this by using a 3ft cable I have and using my laptop to configure it as needed, but I figure I'd go ahead and ask the community for help.
The router has been updated to the 4/29/2014 firmware (V2.0, I think). This problem was seen bother before the update - on firmware v1.07 - and since the update. I have tried switching the cable from the first port to each of the others without success. I have tried bypassing my netgear 5 port switch (which connects most things in my room to the router) and plugging directly into my pc with the same results. I have no issue whatsoever with my laptop, nor with a tablet pc and ethernet adapter. I am rather stumped. Any and all advice would be appreciated on how to solve this, if such a thing can be solved. Thanks!

everything connect ot the router except this one with a new cable it could be a defect in the cable or the network chipset on the board check network card settings and if you could try a pci network other then the onboard chipset to see if router stay connect when you are in the settings option . the other thing did you load the firmware that goes with the version of your router . http://support.linksys.com/en-us/support/routers/E2500/downloads

Well, I have tried other cables - the now defunct 75ft cable, and in the far past a 10ft cable - so I don't think it is an issue with the pc. The thing is, I can access all the other benefits of accessing the network/internet without issue, and windows says I am connected at 100Mbps, which is fitting for a cat5 cable. The WebUI just seems to time out almost immediately after logging in, which is causing issues. The firmware is up to date, as well, so I don't think that would be the issue. Thanks for the help, though.

Not sure what you mean by "net framwork," nor do I see a test on the linksys link. I updated the firmware yesterday, and checked today. My router is hardware revision 1, so the newer firmware on the linksys site is for hardware revision 3, which has some differences, and it is ill advised in my experience to use a firmware image from a different piece of hardware. Please bear with my inexperience.

I honestly had not considered the .net framework. I have 4.5 installed from some application, but evidently have several updates pending for it - they're downloading as I type this. I also haven't tried using the linksys connect setup software, so I'll give it a try. Thanks for the help and the patience.
