linksys wireless router problem

I have a linksys wireless router connected to a cable modem. When I connect a PC equipped with Windows XP home addition using an ethernet cable, I can reach the internet.
When I disconnect my ethernet cable and install a PCMCIA (Proxim) wireless card or an external USB (D-Link DWL-122) wireless USB adapter I cannot reach the internet. I have WEP turned off, I do obtain a valid IP address using DHCP and do not have any MAC filtering turned on.

Any help is appreciated.

Do the D-Link or Proxim drivers provide any diagnostic?

Please provide ipconfig information for the computer, with the ethernet cable
and then with a wireless device enabled.
Start - Run - "cmd". Type "ipconfig /all >c:\ipconfig.txt" into the command
window - Open c:\ipconfig.txt in Notepad, copy and paste into your next post.

Please provide static route tables for the computer, with the ethernet cable and
then with a wireless device enabled.
Start - Run - "cmd". Type "route print >c:\route.txt" into the command window -
Open c:\route.txt in Notepad, copy and paste into your next post.

With the wireless device enabled:
1) Ping www.yahoo.com.
2) Ping 66.94.230.33.
Report error messages.

Right now, you have 2 network devices defined - a 3Com wired card, and an
Orinoco wireless card. Did you try connecting with the Orinoco?

Please describe how you install and activate the D-Link or the Proxim. What
devices are currently listed in Device Manager - Network adapters?

Can you connect to the router, and look at the DHCP address assignment table?
