Linksys WRT1900ACS wont recognise Seagate HDD

I was wondering if anyone could help me. I am trying to connect my 4TB Seagate SRD00F1 to by Linksys WRT1900ACS router and it is not recognising the drive. I understand there is a list of compatible drives for the linksys router however I dont wish to spend another $200 on a new hard drive when already have one. Does anyone know a work around to make this drive work with the router? Seems strange that only certain HDD's would work with a router. The drive is formatted to NTFS.

If some type of 4 tb drive, I'm assuming it has some sort of external power supply?

Does the drive work OK connected to a PC's USB port?

Is the drive encrypted, per chance?

Hello steven2986, this is the compatibility list for the Linksys WRT1900ACS router. Also, here is the link to the Seagate Backup Plus line as well and as suggested previously, test the drive in another computer to make suite it is not the culprit of this situation. Use Seatools for checking the health of the drive.

Hi, thanks for your help. The drive is a stand alone (no power supply), its not encrypted and works fine in many different computers as I use it commonly. Just to be certain i have tested the drive with seatools and its come back in good health.

I understand there is a list of compatible drives from linksys (albeit i dont understand why these days there should be any compatibility issues with over the counter products) however like i said earlier i dont wish to spend another $200 when i have a fully functioning drive right here.

I'd be concerned that a 4 TB drive might draw a tad too more power than the USB port of the router was perhaps designed for, which I suspect might be your issue...(likely 'unsolvable')

Given your symptoms, and a port that functions w/ one drive, and not another...it is a logical guess...
