I had a disc drive crash and had to reload Xp. Now I'm trying to connect to the internet using my WRT54GS router. The computer I'm trying to connect is to the ethernet conection on the router. Is there setup software I need to load first? I lost my secure wireless connection also, but at least am able to use the Linksys wireless network connection. I have no idea what happened there, but I would like to be able to connect to the router using the ethernet connection.

If you need to check the user settings in the router you just log in via a browser and an ethernet cable (see router setup literature for how). Once in make sure you note down the wireless security type and passphrase.

The thing you may need is to download a driver for the wireless adapter. Check the adapter is recognised by going to Control Panel, System, Hardware, Device Manager.
