I have a Linotype Hell Saphire scanner which is working well with my old W98 PC.
It came with a card for inside the PC but new XP machines don't have that slot.
Has anyone heard of a USB adaptor kit so I can use it on a newer machine?
Thanks

USB adapters that work for SCSI do not exist.

If the card is a SCSI adapter, you can get PCI SCSI adapters that fit the
new computers.
Unless you are using a notebook computer, then you would need a PC or PCMCIA
SCSI card.

One good source is Ebay.

One very important thing, Windows XP need ASPI for SCSI scanners.

Thanks Carl,

The scanner came with a 50 pin (large plug & contacts)lead out of the
scanner and ended in a 25 pin plug. They supplied a lead adapter to 50
pin which plugs into the win 98 PC. (smallish plug and 50 fine pins)
SCSI 1 to SCSI 2.
Should I worry about getting a SCSI 1 or 2 card for the new XP machine?

The new card will go in a PCI slot.

Thanks again

I am not sure, that is not the configuration I would know anything about.

I would get the card that fits the cable that I have or buy a cable the fits
the scanner and the card.
Along with the SCSI card you need ASPI from adaptec for Windows XP.
