Linux Installation of ASUS N705 w/ Nvidia

I recently purchased an ASUS N705UD and for nearly 2 months have had issues getting various Linux distos to properly install. I have tried Mint (various flavors), Manjaro (various flavors) and each time I run into the same issues. Screen freezing, inability to shut down the lapotop. The distros usually install then within minutes things just stop working. Mint Cinnamon was the longest distro to work, I've tried it with the Nvidia drivers as well as with the opensource (Nouveau) drivers plus I turned off the Nvidia card all with minimal success. Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Let me start with how did you go about installing the drivers? There is a possible reason why the drivers may not be in the kernel yet or need to be a download.
