linux mint 17 live cd

hello

so i downloaded the newest release of linux mint 17 LTS and put it on dvd at a speed of 1x. when i try to boot into the live cd, it shows the regular options START LINUX MINT, START IN COMPATIIBILITY MODE, etc. (something like that). when i tried to start linux mint through either the first option or the "automatic boot in 10 seconds", the screen just went black. i tried waiting for it but after 10 or 15 minutes, it was still like that. what should i do?

Try start in compatibility mode to make sure you don't have video issues. if that fails then you either had a bad download or you are trying to launch a 64 bit version on a 32 bit machine.
If not those then you need to give us more info about your hardware.
