Hi, I'm asking myself the usual question -
"Which graphics card is best for linux?"
However, I'm not only considering which card is the best but equally important is thier stance on Open Source.
What are the agreements both companies lay down and how have thier track record followed?
Does NVidia still provide good but closed drivers while ATI don't help much (at all?) but does use dri. Are ATI helping out now? How are the drivers? Are the drivers supported by utilities? Are the drivers well documented?
I've googled a bit of course but haven't found much.
I ask this because I would like my graphics card to remain useable after a company goes bust, because I prefer Open Source because it gives me more power even as a non-programmer. Perhaps it's a small matter of values also.
With thanks.
