When I try to USB load Ubuntu 14.04 LTS on my Emachines EM350 because windows XP is not supported it comes up with a message saying "DECOMPILATION OR DISASSEMBLY PROHIBITED" how can I fix this?

Solution

Try installing Ubuntu via Wubi.

1. Put your USB key into your computer while it is running Windows.

2. Run Wubi.exe and go through the steps

3. Congratulations, you just installed Ubuntu within Windows, and now at bootup you can select between the two.

Hope that helps!

Try using Lubuntu instead: http://lubuntu.net/

Lubuntu is a lot lighter on the resources and should work better on your Netbook.

Go into your BIOS and see if there are any settings like "Secure Boot" or something like that and turn it off. That may be the problem.

I would also use Lubuntu anyway on that old of hardware.

Hope that helps!
