Linux to Windows

Solution
When you format the drive for the windows install it will wipe that drive, alternatively you can create a separate partition for the Windows OS, although I would not recommend that unless you have a decent sized hard drive. When you use installation media it has you select a partition/drive on your computer and tells you it's going to reformat it. When installing Windows you should not have to worry about formatting unless you want to keep certain data/OSs.
Linux uses a separate format so windows won't work, if you were to install windows on a flash drive then install windows, when you install windows it will allow you to format the drive when you install windows.

I have tried using a flash as well as a disc. Do I need to buy a new hard drive?

Or should I wipe linux and try a clean install?
