Hi all,

i recently bought a Lenovo Legion Pro 5 16ARX8, just to have a powerful machine for compilation, didn't pay much attention to the fact it has an Nvidia discrete card, (amdgpu built.in in cpu + nvidia discrete),.

The cards are:
Code:
1:00.0 VGA compatible controller: NVIDIA Corporation AD107M [GeForce RTX 4060 Max-Q / Mobile] (rev a1)
08:00.0 VGA compatible controller: Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. [AMD/ATI] Raphael (rev d8)

I need right now to work in wayland, With "discrete" set on mb firmware, nouveau driver is used, but i get a black screen launching wayliand + wayfire (wayland seems running, with no backlight). Tested also last mainline kernel, same issue.

If i install last nvidia propertary driver, at least i can have wayland running, but with some crappy / damaged windows often,

Right now i am working with "switchable" mode, since amdgpu is saving me.

I don't need any special performance fro the video, but using the discrete video (nvidia) may be useful anyway, so if you have any hint on how to proceed, welcome. I am now in Arch Linux.

thanks a lot

Hi,

well, looks like installing Arch nvidia propertary drivers saved the situation, at least to be able to wait for opensource nouveau to be completed.

Anyway, there was still some flickering in wayland, so i had to use
XWAYLAND_NO_GLAMOR=1

And i can work properly.

Wayland on GeForce is in a rocky spot already but combining nouveau on top of that is asking for a disaster. I would just not use nouveau outright if you plan on using this as a daily driver.
