Liquid cooler doesnt cool

Hello! My Intel Core i7 4790k, not overclocked, uses the Corsair H60 Liquid cooler. Before, the CPU held 30-35 degrees idle, and 40-50 degrees when gaming. After 6 months of use, one day I noticed the temperatures suddenly reached 99 degrees idle. I asked a guy what the problem could be, he said it might be the thermal paste. So, after changing to the Noctua NT-H1 Thermal paste, I put it on the cpu as a X, dunno if I did a good job tho. Now, running the pc it still runs 70-80 degrees idle. Do I have to redo the thermal paste and try again witha dot, as they recommended? Or could there be any other solution? The cable management probabbly isnt the problem. Thanks!

IF the cooler is running fine then most probably the heat is not conducting good enough. You should reapply thermal paste. If you've made sure that the thermal paste is properly applied but still high temps then it most probably the cooler.

I would say that you were misadvised. Thermal paste doesn't degrade like that overnight. I would guess that your water pump is not working properly. Can you hear it? (It may help to put the tip of a screwdriver on the pump housing and then put your ear to the handle - this acts like a stethoscope and you should be able to hear the motor running.)

Another possibility would be that the system has sprung a leak, but you would expect to see signs of the liquid in that case. If either of these potential failures is the cause of the problem then the cooler should still be covered by its warranty.

This is crazy... Just after I got the answer the cpu temps went straight down to normal.. thanks guys...
