Overall Dell has more....

Wondering, because personally I am helping only Dell users, with a few exceptions in the past, and all my badges are earned on Dell systems....

No more comments.....:??:

Your comments aren't misunderstood, they are intentionally confrontational and antagonistic. Go ahead and read your first post in this thread back to yourself. Let it sink in for a moment what you are implying there.

Back to the topic at hand.

We're in the process of updating the badges. It's something Community has been trying to do, and one of a few of my own personal crusades. Recently, we added a number of badges, including one for Windows 10 (with a sloppy graphic, as it was rushed), but admittedly, most of them were geared towards conversation topics on Tom's Guide. Expanding badge coverage to the rest of the major OEM's is a work in progress, and the main obstacle in the way currently is getting the badge graphics. As has...
Well, then who is deciding, which badges should exist and which ones are not? Is this decision is made locally by Toms MODs and Staff, or it comes from above.
I wish I knew how to campaign for a Dell budge to be existed (which would be a good idea, since HP badge already exists), but I don't think I will....

Still, one of the original questions remains - is there a list of all badges?

I guess my question is partially answered, but I can not give 1/2 of Best Answer😀, so can you answer this

who is deciding, which badges should exist and which ones are not? Is this decision is made locally by Toms MODs and Staff, or it comes from above.

No more extra uneasy questions, in this thread for sure....

The mod team was asked to contribute to what badges we wanted to see and that was passed up the line but the final say rests with the developers who implement any forum changes. Trust me when I say ( at least some ) of the mods and staff would like to see more badges added and we realize the list is incomplete. Why Asus has one but Gigabyte doesn't.......well you would have to ask the developers. Since they are French and I don't speak French I can't do it myself! 😛

I don't believe the developers make the decision, but we need both them and the graphics artists (for the badge logos) to be able to implement it.

Because they're outside the umbrella marked 'Community', I believe we need to get approval before using their time. Which is also the issue with most of the other things that we'd like changed.

Dell are not unknown in the arena of tablets, laptops, pre-built desktops, and other gear. As are Apple and Lenovo to mention just a couple of others. I suspect that if you asked the public Dell might be a more familiar name than Asus.

Well, nobody asked you to comment or justify anything if you can't!

The OP asked a perfectly sensible question and I don't see any harm in discussing it.

Pot calling the kettle black......... I only see one person in this thread not adding to the discussion in any meaningful way. So be civil or don't post.

You mean me? I was playing FC4 as I seen just a few people participating in conversation, did not expect so many jumping in, I guess this is indeed a good time, I guess for Europeans, as in my place it is a deep night.

Mu only concern was why Dell was not included, when HP was.
I understand the logic behind Asus vs Gigabyte, but see nothing in Dell vs HP, I guess person who make final decision had very good experience with Dell and very bad with HP, LOL Dell should be proud.

My question is actually answered by all MODs together, and since I can not split Best Answer, I will leave it unanswered (by the way, Dell Community Forums have setting for multiple Best Answers, which is a bright idea).

My interest in this - I made all my badges on Dell systems, and I noticed that not so many people here knows a lot about Dells, even many top badge carriers, and it goes unrewarded in terms of generalized recognition, not part specific, I would be Master or King of Dell already by now, oh well, I enjoy been here even without badges.
Was in similar position at Dell Community Forums, will be here as well, no, I am wrong, here we have badges system. Dell Community Forum has only Bronze, Silver, Gold and Platinum Members (me Platinum) and Community Rockstars, which are Dell appointed super active and knowledgeable members plus Forum Liaisons who work for Dell and got salary.

Now you know my past and my future, my sorrow and my joy.

Lets continue to talk, maybe someone on top get their Dell broken, and will change their mind after this.....

I believe the remark was aimed at me, not you, for (mis)perceived rudeness to another moderator. My remark wasn't indted that way, just saying that no-one had been asked to justify everything. I think you raised a very good question which deserved discussion, but I don't want to upset the apple-cart by commenting further.

It's a shame that comments are so easily misunderstood, but that's the Internet for you.

Expanding badge coverage to the rest of the major OEM's is a work in progress, and the main obstacle in the way currently is getting the badge graphics. As has been pointed out, the graphic artists are part of a different branch within the company, so we don't exactly get instant direct access to them all the time. A request was put in for around a dozen new badge graphics covering OEM's about a month ago, but resources have been focused on a bigger project they are hoping to unveil soon. Reminders will be sent to them and badges will get added just as soon as we have the graphics for them, at which point they will be granted retroactively to Best Answers in the appropriately tagged threads.

It's good to have someone to explain to me what I mean! Else I'd never know what I thought about a particular subject.

There was me thinking that, after a slightly flippant first sentence (just a little joke about the fact that Asus merits a badge whilst the far more well-known Dell doesn't), I was agreeing with the OP in my second sentence. But what do I know?

It seems little over-sensitive to always interpret mild criticism as confrontation and antagonism. But that's your problem, not mine. Humourless people have my sympathy as they have enough to cope with in life, so I'll try my hardest not to add to your burdens in future.

well, good for you for not picking "intel" as an example. 😛

full disclosure: serial intel owner here. T_T

For common consumers maybe but Asus is a much more well known and respected company in the tech savvy circles. I would never buy a Dell consumer system but I would easily use Asus products in my system or in my home.

This is a tech enthusiast website with a goal of also assisting the more common people. I would think this system would be geared towards the more tech savvy.
