Lite-On DVD Drive Not Reading Windows 7 Disc

Hey guys,
I just finished my first custom PC build, and all I need now is to install the OS. I have a new copy of Windows 7 System Builder, so I put it in my Lite-On IHAS124-04 and set the boot order with the DVD drive first in my BIOS. I saved the changes and shut down, then powered it back on again. The drive spun up REALLY LOUDLY for close to a minute, then went silent. My motherboard displays a message saying, "Reboot and Select proper Boot device or Insert Boot Media in selected Boot Device and press a key." I don't know what to make of this, any ideas?

After BIOS and before the message you are seeing, you should see a message which states, "Press Any Key to boot from CD/DVD". Are you seeing this message?

Yeah, it isn't retail. It's OEM.

Try the media in another drive to see if it detects it.

No, I don't see that.

I tried loading up my copy of GParted (I burned it to a CD to use with my laptop.) It works on all my other systems, but not this one.

Hopefully when it spun up the disc it didn't damage the media.

That drive is notorious for being loud.

If that is the case, do you guys know if Amazon gives replacements on parts like this? I ordered it from Amazon. I've never had to return anything to them, so I don't know their policy.

Some parts on Amazon are sent back to them for replacement , some are sent back to the manufacturer.You will have to look into it.

That drive is faulty , needs to be replaced.

It was a 3rd party seller through Amazon. I will look into returning it. Thank you all for your help.

Should be easy enough to return to Amazon.

Obviously, recheck your power and data connections one more time before you decide to return it.
