Little expert guidance needed please...

I have a computer that I built several years ago for a media center computer.

It has an i3-3220 CPU that sits on top of an ASRock Z77 Extreame4 MB with a Corsair CX500 powering it. Has two 8 gig sticks of Corsair Vengeance memory.

MB: https://www.newegg.com/p/N82E16813157293?Item=N82E16813157293

Memory: https://www.newegg.com/corsair-8gb-240-pin-ddr3-sdram/p/N82E16820233196?Item=N82E16820233196

PSU: https://www.newegg.com/corsair-cx-s...a-500w/p/N82E16817139027?Item=N82E16817139027

So... about two years ago my handicapped son knocked it of it's stand and busted the case. I was going to order a new case but never got around to it. It (components) sit in a 5 gallon bucket in my garage for about two years.

I finally ordered a new case for it and desired to rebuild it in the new case. When I build a computer, I start with the minimal parts first. <power-video and memory> Once I get video, I turn it off and add the other component's.

So... I hooked the PSU up to the MB and turned it on. Nada, dead, nothing. All of you that know that MB know that it has a feature called DR. Debug which has two LED readouts. Nothing, just like It was not plugged in.

So I jumped the green and black wire on the PSU MB plug and the fan came on. So then I checked the voltage output of that PSU at the plug and all voltages were there.

BUT when the PSU is plugged in to the MB the PSU fan does not come on, as well as nothing on the MB. I did not think at the time to turn the MB over and check the voltages there.

The MB has a bit of a warp to it. So I guess sitting in my garage may have messed up the MB.

Question:

Does the fact that the PSU have correct outputs with no load mean that it is good?
Is there a better way to determine exactly where my problem lies.

I think the MB died, other options/opinions?

Thank you,
John

"Does the fact that the PSU have correct outputs with no load mean that it is good? "
No....as it should be checked under the rated load....but....the fact that you have the correct voltages under no load is not a bad sign.
...but I tend to agree with you and think it's probably the MB.
