Lizard Squad: A Cry for Attention?

I'm sure you all have heard of the infamous Lizard Squad which hacked PSN and Xbox live over Christmas and Christmas Eve. Whether it be from twitter, or ABC news, or maybe your favorite YouTube creator, you all have been exposed to it.

My reason for posting here: Do you think that all the attention the Lizard Squad has been getting is all they really wanted? Share your thoughts here.

They didn't hack them, they DDoSed them. It looks like they may have done the same to EA's multiplayer infrastructure today because BF4 (and presumably other titles) have been unavailable all day.

I'm more concerned about how these guys managed to gather what I presume is a sufficiently large enough botnet to take down several major game service providers.
