I am at work trying to fix a computer that wont connect to the network here at work. I did a wipe and reload with windows 7 pro 64 bit. It is an Dell Optiplex 3010 and I had to install the latest drivers from their website. Any reason why I cant connect to the internet?

Solution
if you're getting the message of invalid IP configuration then either the DHCP server is assigning it a wrong IP, it's not assigning it at all, or it's with manual configuration with improper settings.

Try setting manually a known valid free IP in the network and see if you get connectivity.

when you plug the Ethernet cable in, do the LED's around the plug light up? if not, try another cable, if still bad, try another network port... Still bad, try an add-in Ethernet card. The port on the machine may have failed... it happens, one of my older Dells here has a bad NIC
