I am having trouble resolving this problem. I am running Windows 8.1 and since a regular Windows update yesterday I am unable to find any wireless networks on my laptop. All other devices in my house are able to connect to the router. The error message is telling me that there is no valid IP configuration. I have read through other posts with this issue and have tried manually inputting the IP on the network adapter, cancelling and renewing the IP, updating the driver software for the network adapter and even simply removing the power source. All of which have not fixed the problem. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Solution
Can you check your update history to see if the Wireless NIC driver was updated?
Can you check the manufacture's site for an new driver ?
This happened after an update installed yesterday? It was working ok before?
Was a new wireless nic driver installed during the update? Try rolling back the driver.
Left click on the network icon in the taskbar, you should see a list of available wifi networks. move your mouse pointer over your network name (without clicking). You should see a tool tip with the network info. What security type is used on the network? Should be WPA2-PSK for newer devices.

Yes it was working fine before, installed the update, rebooted the laptop and no connections. There are no connections available when I click on the network icon. Security type is WPA2-PSK. I am unable to roll back the driver that option won't let me click on it. I believe it is the Ralink RT5390R 802.11bgn WiFi adapter.

I can't see in the update history that the NIC driver was updated, but I have just manually updated all the network adapter drivers and like magic the wifi networks have reappeared! It seems I was looking a bit too indepth for a solution.

Thank you very much for your help!!
