so i've been settin up filezilla and teamspeak 3 server, when they ask for my server address to connect to it and i put "localhost" it connects , but when i put my ip from whatsmyip.com it doesnt connect, WHY IS THIS HAPPENING!!!

also, when creating my filezilla server and they ask for the server address, its empty, i dont know what to put there, usually it has 127:0:0:1 but that doesnt work!!!

No Luck, when i put "localhost" it connects, but when i put my wanip, it doesnt connect

Any access to another network to test accessibility from outside your network? The fact you can connect using localhost means the server is running, if port forwarding is working right then you should be able to connect from outside your networking using the ip: port .

The reason it does not work is that your router must support "hairpin" NAT. You are in effect sending your traffic out to the internet and then right back in on the same wan interface. Your router will translate both the source and destination addresses to the same wan ip.

It works ok if the router supports this option. Like it was stated it does not work on all routers and they do not use a consistent name for this feature even if they support it.
