I would like to preface this post to let you know I'm an amateur when it comes to computers so please be patient with me.

I built a new computer just this week and have installed an SSD, that I loaded Windows 10 on, that is working perfectly fine. I have plugged in my new Hitachi 3TB HD and I have found it in Disk Management under Disk 1. The problem is I have not been able to locate it anywhere else. I have noticed that the 3TB's are UNALLOCATED. I'm not sure if this means anything but I think it does.

Any thoughts folks?

Solution
New drive = Unallocated.
This is normal and expected.

In Disk Management, at the left, is it Online or Offline?

If Offline, then right click in that little space, and Initialize it.
If Online, right click in the wide space, and select "New Simple Volume"
Then, format, and give it a drive letter.

So the drive is Online. The weird thing is it is split up. There is a 2048GB side and a 746.52GB side. Can I create a New Volume for both or combine the 2 into 1?

That means it is formatted MBR, instead of GPT.
(mbr only allows a 2TB volume)

Right click - Does it give you the option to "Convert to GPT"?

When i right click on Disk 1 (on the left side) it gives me the option to Convert to GPT Disk. Should I?

Yes.
Then, New Simple Volume.
Format.
Give it a drive letter.
