Lock computer during a long process?

I want to LOCK (not: Switch User, Sign Out, Sleep, Hibernate, etc...) Account while running a long Windows process (process example: Windows Defragmentation,
Windows Update, Security Scan, etc...). Will Locking Account affect any Windows Processes? I dont have the time to sit and wait for process to complete; I got kids to deal with..
