Hello,
Is there any one who knows how recover or bypass a harddrive that requirs a password on a acer aspire 5516

What sort of password is it? A windows password or a BIOS password? A BIOS password is one that pops up as soon as you turn the computer on. If that is the case, you'll have to contact Acer and provide proof of ownership before they'll unlock it for you.

Buwish this is not entirely true, there may be a lock on the actual drive. It is usally associated with the bios password and saved in a special partition. I bought a used laptop that wouldn't boot right for fairly cheao becuse of this. http://www.laptoptips.ca/security/hard-disk-password/ . There may not be much to do. If you bought the computer 2nd hand i would call the seller and see if they will help you out. If not you may have to contact some other places and see what they can do.

The issue with that is that you may end up with your new drive locked too. In some of the newer systems this is a feature built into the drive and usually you can't cart it over to another computer. I was able to cheat with my harddrive in my old lappy and plug it into an identical one and use software to retrieve the pass acquired from the people at the link below
http://www.pwcrack.com/harddisk.shtml (link is too there guide and they also have a service that may be able to help you.) often times the pass is the same as the bios pass, but not always.
try the preset passes from the link here
http://www.pwcrack.com/bios.shtml

hope it helps, if not the first link can get you to there service and they may be able to crack your pass for you.
