I am the only user of my pc and when I turn on the PC I don't want to click
on the box[ owner ]to get the windows XP to start. I did not have to
originally. I have tried every options to make it stop requiring this step.
What next? Bill

Evidentally you haven't tried *every* option:

How to turn on automatic logon in Windows XP
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;315231

"You can also turn on automatic logon without editing the registry in
Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition and in Microsoft Windows XP Professional
(not joined to a domain). To do this, follow these steps: 1. Click Start,
and then click Run.
2. In the Open box, type control userpasswords2, and then click OK.
3. In the dialog box that appears, click to clear the Users must enter
a user name and password to use this computer check box, and then click OK."
