I finally broke down and bought a webcam, since it looks like I'll be working at home for the interim. Logitech c922 Pro HD (because it was the only thing available....can't imagine spending $100 on a webcam pre-COVID)

The webcam hooked up, works fine in zoom, etc. So all good on the hardware side.

The setup guide referenced Logitech's Capture software. I went to their website and downloaded it. I clicked ok on the "The is application is going to make changes on your machine" usual prompt. On install, it gives me an error saying "Your computer needs to be connected to the internet, please check your connection and try again."

I am running Widows 10 Home on a new system., Kaspersky as virus protection. My internet is fine. Itreid the following:
  1. Running the install executable as administrator. Same result.
  2. Restarting my machine, running normally and as adminstrator. Same result.
3)unplugging camera, doing the former. Same result.

Any ideas? Is Kaspersky/Windows Defender blocking this somehow?

Hi, justinbower.
I don't know if you've already fixed the problem.
If not, I had the same problem and just find out a way to bypass this issue:
1- pause Kaspersky protection temporarly
2- disconnect the ethernet
3- use your cell phone as wi-fi router
4- install the Logitech Capture (Capture 2.02.155, in my case)

It worked for me.
Hope it helps you.

That worked for me (to upgrade to 2.04.13). Actually just the disable ethernet and hotspot from my phone part. Software was already downloaded so just needed to hotspot for installation.
Didn't need to adjust/disable/uninstall AV.
Quite bizarre - obviously a big bug somewhere.
Never had any blocking problems on my main internet before - this looks like a Logitech problem to me.
