I am thinking about getting a gaming mouse. I play FPS games, racing games, simulation games, strategy games, an I play WOT. Which one would be best for that. I use a palm grip. I am 13 but I have large hands so would the G700s be too big. I also heard the G500s has input lag. It will be my first gaming mouse. So please tell me which one is best for the games I play.
Thanks

I have the G400 myself. It fits my hand beautifully, has great weight, is incredibly durable, and has amazing input response. The G500/700 have more buttons/macros but share the same build.

I honestly wouldn't trade my G400 in for anything and would recommend it in an instant.

Probably not. The bulk of the weight is in the frame, not in the buttons. I prefer the 5 button layout of the G400 simply because I find that I hit buttons accidentally otherwise, and many games do not support more than 5 mouse buttons.

Pick them both up in store to compare the weight. You may find that the simple 5 button layout is more to your liking, but when I was your age I certainly preferred the complexity.

Ok... That's a good idea. I am planning on going to bestbuy this weekend. I do need more than 2 programmable buttons(need volume control,Game commands, and probably copy, paste and alt F4.) Seems like I will probably get the G700s. Do you know if it's shaped almost exactly like the Performance MX mouse. If it is I can borrow my cousins for a weekend and get a feel for the mouse. Do you think it is too much for a first gaming mouse?

I'm honestly not sure. I bought the G400 years ago and haven't looked at anything else since 😛

I have both the G400 and G700. I prefer the G700. The G400 is good, but I do find I like the extra two thumb buttons on the G700. While games don't let you directly map them to game features, all you have to do is program them to behave as keyboard key that you never use normally (num pad buttons are good, or things like shift, ctrl, <, > and /). While I hated the G600 massive amount of thumb buttons, 4 is easy to use. I'd probably have stuck with the G400 had the wheel also had tilt, but it doesn't, though the G500 does.

I don't feel any difference in accuracy compared to the G400. Both are good. If there is a difference, it would be hard to tell.

Most people don't seem to like the mouse wheel tilt (I like it). When I got the G400, there was no G500 yet.

When I was tired of the two thumb buttons on the G400 (I felt they were awkwardly located for my tastes), I went to the G700 instead. I found those extra buttons, and layout were better for me. It also has a tilt wheel, which I now rarely used, because I just program the extra thumb buttons instead, and I typically have those extra index buttons set for Quicksave/Quickload, or at the desktop, Update (F5).
