Logitech Gaming Software

I recently came to a huge problem which happened after installing Logitech Gaming Software. At first it was minor problems. How it all started: I started the latest setup with the correct bit version. The setup hangs on installing drivers and never finishes. It does this every time I start it. So I give up and figure I just won't use it.

The next time I start up windows it's there in the notification area even though the setup didn't go all the way through. I think that's weird but dismiss it anyways. I proceed to customize my macros for my g700 mouse. There was an option in the settings about enabling enhanced graphics. So I decided to try it and give it a go. Everything was fine but during startup it would not run sometimes. I figure this is a minor issue and think I can fix it.

I decide to do some research on this. Why was it randomly not starting up with windows sometimes? I couldn't find an answer so I decide to cmd sfc /scannow. Well it found problems that it could not fix. Then my windows start button became unusable. I was unable to uninstall the logitech gaming software to fix these issues. So I resulted in a system restore from the 18th. This is when things went to hell.

The restore was successful but when it completed things were running surprisingly slow! And I mean very slow. Things were able to load up but I noticed that it didn't remove the logitech gaming software! Nothing had changed at all besides my windows updates! This is the problem I ended up with, after starting up windows I will have about 3 minutes of normal computer to do anything before it goes into 100% disk and I can't do anything. It just sits there thinking it's constantly loading something.

I am in the process of being extremely patient and waiting for my computer to do a re-install of windows through my desktop (Since I don't have a cd drive). It is excruciatingly slow but it's going at least. I just hope it doesn't freeze up or something when needing to restart.

I have windows 8.1 but I also have windows 8.1 and everything exactly the same on my laptop with no problems! (The logitech software is an earlier version though) So what the hell? How could something so small explode into something so large?

Sounds like things get messed up when you did the system restore; it should always be a last ditch option prior to a reinstall. Next time, if SFC /scannow can't fix a problem, try it from Safe Mode, since that will usually get the issues fixed.

Not sure about the logitech software; it works for me on my PC, but I haven't updated it for several months, so *shrug*
