Logitech K800 - Issues with lights

Tried the Logitech forums, but, no luck... tried finding tech support info that wasn't a phone number with no luck either so, hoping someone here may be able to shed some light.

I bought a Logitech K800 this week, though had no real interest in the wireless aspect. I liked the look, size, feel etc so, planned to plug in the USB and simply leave it plugged in 24/7.

Problem is, the feature of having the lights turn off automatically isn't working. Unplugged everything works fine, plugged in the lights never turn off. If I switch the keyboard off/on they turn off but only come on again if I press a key, then remain on as long as the computer is on. The dimming works fine... if I cover up or shine a light at the sensor the lights dim/brighten. They just don't shut off.

I downloaded their setpoint software, made no difference, except if I choose to disable the lights, then they go off and stay off. Off-chance was a driver issue, I uninstalled setpoint, went into device manager and deleted everything, rebooted and let everything re-install but no changes.

Most I got from the Logitech forum was that 'it should work' which wasn't helpful, and no idea if the person knew for a fact it should or just guessing.

So... does anyone have a K800? if so, when plugged into USB does the hand detection work and do the lights auto shut off?

Well... this thread was a fail.

But... for anyone else in the future who may read this with the same question... when plugged into USB (charging) the features related to the lighting turning off and hand motion turning them on again, are disabled.

On the Logitech forum someone initially said it works, then said it didn't, but overall was a bit of a troll I think... so dealt with Logitech directly. I had 2 "experts" message me for 3 weeks about this, insisting it was probably software related because it should work. I asked a few times have they physically taken a K800 and tested with it... but they ignored the question each time.

Finally... after the 3 weeks of back/forth, they finally did test with one and same results as what mine's doing.

So much for expert support from Logitech, they don't even know how their own products work.

This is now in the quickstart guide for the K800. You can set the illumination level to 0% using FN F5 even when charging (I am testing this right now as I type). My issue is that this resets after the keyboard goes to sleep, whether or not you are recharging, so your comment about setpoint is really helpful to me.

Cheers.
