Recently got this mouse off a friend that doesn't use it anymore (bought a different one). It works and all, but I was wondering if any software needs to be downloaded for me to be able to map controls to the side buttons. These buttons work on steam and Internet browser by allowing me to go forward and back from pages, however in game, I am unable to map any controls to the buttons (neither in shogun 2 or batman arkham origins). I can live without mapping the buttons, but seeing as ie just came over from a console, I'm finding some controls awkward (mainly the controls to the left of the WASD keys (like Lcntl and shift) as my left hand usually stays occupied with WAS and D

logitech setpoint. available on the logitech website.

if games give you issues you can set the buttons to physical keys. ie you can set a side button to "esc" in setpoint and then in game just map the regular "esc" key to the command. easy way of bypassing a game which doesnt like multi-button mice. typically though the windows drivers recognize the buttons and they work in most games without software.

i personally like using the arrow keys instead. then ctrl for crouch, shift for jump and enter for chat or action. numpad for weapon quick switch. delete-home cluster for other commands. or perhaps you would be interested in using a razer nostromo or the logitech equivalent.
