Logitech QuickCam Zoom

I have a Logitech QuickCam Zoom in a Windows 2000SP4 environment, but I
frequently have a problem when booting the computer. Often the green led of
the camera goes on and stays on after booting. When I try to use the cam I
get an error "camera already in use". Because of this I recently searched
and found a driver update, uninstalled the camera completely and installed
the new driver software.
As such it works OK, but I STILL frequently have the problem after booting.
In that case I get a mark next to the USB driver in device manager. As a
work around I can remove the cam from the USB port and plug it in again, but
this is laborious because my USB ports are at the back of the computer.
Is ther no NORMAL way to solve this problem?

Would you know: does it take advantage of USB2, or can I connect it to a
USB1 port without loss of speed?

you can get both usb2 and usb1 hubs....

if yu have usb2 then thats what i wud get ,, a usb2 hub.. this will allow
usb2 devices to run at their fastest...

but yu have to use a usb2 connector from the hub to the pc too....

or to save funds just get a usb2 extension cable...

search on ebay and google for that

Thanks, but I was actually referring to the webcam itself. Does it make use
of USB2?

good question..... no idea.....i have the logitech orbit cam and it
worksvwell under usb2.....

u cud ask logitech themselves...

Of course I have been looking on the Logitech site too, but I can't find the
information I want. Under hardware specs. it says that it supports USB. I
suppose they don't know about USB1 and USB2 themselves...
Nor can I find an e-mail address for "hard" questions.

by the sounds of it yr system is starting the cam on boot .. so i would
check to see if any applications are running on start up that might access
the cam......

do a good system clean up and check start menu

its more likeley yr usb ports at fault...

get a usb2 pci card.... that will make it all better

U may have something like messenger or icq running in startup / boot

No, I start all my apps. manually. Besides, this would lead to the problem
occuring consistently, which it does not.
