I absolutely loved my Logitech Wireless XBox controller........ until
the day it went "wrong."
The failure was in the left analog thumbstick. An internal bearing
degraded after a few months, so that characters onscreen would
walk-off to the right all by themselves. TONY HAWK skaters would veer
off trick lines, Sam Fisher of SPLINTER CELL would walk right into the
light and into enemy sights. It was beyond frustrating and ruined the
experience.
It was an expensive lesson in product failure and Logitech's Customer
Support. I called them only to be told "this is a common problem with
the Wireless XBox Controller," "this is the problem we receive the
most call about with this product," and when they requested the
receipt for proof of purchase, I told them it was a gift and I didn't
have one, they said, "we can't help you - you've got an expensive
paperweight!"
I contacted David Henry, Logitech's Director of Control Devices, who
authorized them to sell me a new one at a "discounted price" of
$39.95, plus shipping. I told them that Wal*Mart sells new ones for
$34.95 - no shipping. Thanks but no thanks.
My opinion is that the Logitech Wireless Controller is flawed and will
likely fail over a brief period of time. And with their Customer
Service policy so strict, I will not purchase another Logitech product
from here on in. It's too bad, too... it was a darned nice controller
when it was new, too.
I hope this helps.
