Logitech X-530 speakers giving weird problems

I bought the logitech x-530 speaker system today. I had trouble at first and had to enable the "Make front and rear output devices playback two different audio streams simultaneously" option in the Realtek HD Audio Manager in order for my computer to utilize the speakers at all. Now my issue is that the rear speakers aren't working outside of the realtek program. What I'm sure of is that the rear speakers work physically, because when I test them in the Realtek program, they respond and produce sound. However, when I try to play music or anything else from my computer, the rear speakers don't produce sound. I've seen some suggestions of installing updated drivers for my sound card but I don't know exactly what sound card I have or how to get realtek drivers, because their website was a bit confusing to me. Any help appreciated.

Update: The rear speakers work in many games - Destiny 2, Fallout 4, Minecraft, etc. However I specifically will not be using the speakers for games and only want to use them for music and videos, so I need them to work with spotify/google chrome.

OK. On the motherboard, you should have the green plug connected to the green jack (front left/right) the black plug should be connected to the black jack(rear left/right) and the orange plug connected to the orange jack(center/sub).

You shouldn't need to use your front jack(typically headphone).

You also should not have to enable front and rear use two different streams option, as that serves another purpose. Do you have the green/black/orange jacks on your PC's motherboard?

Yes, I have the 3 3.5mm audio jacks plugged into the correct spots on the motherboard. As I mentioned, the sound is playing correctly when doing audio tests in the realtek program. The rear speakers are even working right now in the Destiny 2 beta. But they aren't working on spotify, google chrome, internet explorer, etc. All I want to use the speakers for is to listen to music or videos, because I use a headset to play video games. So I need the rear speakers to work on these programs.

Bear in mind, unless there is surround information in what your listening to, the rear speakers won't play, because there is no information to play. If the test in the realtek software is working, then your setup is correct. Some music does have surround information in it, a lot of music doesn't. Try watching a movie if you can, and see if that makes the rear speakers play.

I just tried a surround sound test video and the rear speakers didn't give any audio. I don't think the content of the sound is the issue, there's something weird happening that isn't allowing the speakers to be utilized in most things, but obviously they work because the realtek audio manager tests produce sound from them.

Edit: A way to test your theory is that I pulled up multiple live streams of people playing destiny 2, CS:GO, etc, games with surround sound, and the rear speakers aren't playing sound. However when I open those games on my computer, the rear speakers produce sound. So there's some issue with the speakers working outside of games on my PC.
