I've had these speakers for years and they have worked on my laptop and my ipod as well as a few other devices. I recently wanted to use them on my desktop, so I plugged them in and they are not being picked up on my pc. I have the power plugged in, all of the speakers are in the correct plugins in the back of the sub, speaker is turned on and I have the green "audio in" cord plugged into the green audio jack on my pc. Automatically, my republic of gamers "high definition audio" audio management system loads up. It gives me options between line in, microphone, headphone, front speaker out, rear speaker out, center/subwoofer speaker out, and side speaker out. It defaults to "rear speaker out" so that is what I leave it on. Now, I do a test, absolutely no sound. Anyone know what is going on?

Did you connect all 3 cables to soundcard?
Is soundcard in 5.1 mode ?
Technically, Z506 doesn't have rear speakers. 1 middle front, a front left and right and 2 sidespeakers. Should be positioned next to you, left and right.
Try other speaker config. If you can get sound from Center front, you should be able to figure out the rest with some tinkering.

It's only one cable, I do not have a soundcard. My sound is built into my motherboard (ASUS Maximus V Formula) . I have my speakers settings in 5.1 mode as well as in my asus rog hd audio audio management system. I was finally able to get sound to come out of my front left speaker.. I'm tinkering with it now.
