I was wondering if anyone could tell me if going it solo in World of
Warcraft is a viable option. I keep really really weird hours and can
only snatch an hour here or there. Would someone who could rarely group
have a chance at levelling up in this game? I played Final Fantasy XI
for a few months and had to give it up because it was damn near
possible to do anything solo.

I think WoW strong point is its solo-ability. You can got all the way to
lv.60 solo. You will have to skip some of the harder quests, and the Dungeon
Instances..but it is very possible to do.
If you pick a Hunter that journey is even easier done solo. Hunter is a pet
class that is considered the easiest class to level solo..

IMHO (I've been playing only for a week, mind) yes, you can.

But you'll have to skip elite quests and instances (both of which take
quite a long time to complete, at least two hours as far as I've seen,
anyway).

I have a level 60 Mage and have spent 95% of my time soloing. It is
actually very easy to solo completely to level 60. And the dungeon or
instance quests, if you want to do them, are most often only a one and a
half hour long affair

I have been playing for a week or two, and I would say yes.

You would have to use and focus more on stealth and brains as compared to
muscles, but that should be no problem, and there will still be many cases
where you can get a helping hand, even if only for half an hour...

I'm playing mostly solo as a Rogue. I tend to join a party only when I want
to complete ELITE quests and enter instances. But, as a rogue I find it
frustrating working in groups because they mostly don't wait for u to
execute your stealth moves. I love playing a rogue because it's a more
rounded character and IMO requires more skill than any othe type. It also
reminds me of that great game 'Thief'

But yes, plaing solo is definitely possible. In 3 weeks I've got to lvl 32

Yes. You won't be able to do _everything_, but you can certainly play it
solo, enjoy it solo, and hit level 60 solo.

Be sure to pick a solo-friendly class, though, such as Rogue or Hunter.

Cheers!

Most definitely viable. Some content may not be open to you if you
strictly go solo, but pick up groups are pretty easy to find in WoW and
getting easier with the new patch enhancements, so even that content is
available if you don't mind the occasional group when you do have time
for it. But yes, it is not really any harder to solo to max level (60)
than it is to do it by playing strictly in groups. Nearly any class can
solo, but for certain ones it is easier. Hunters are an excellent solo
class. And wicked cool to boot.

Yes it's possible. But it's rather boring if you want my opinion. Solo was
also
the only thing I could do. I gave up playing the damn game after two weeks
or so when I realized most of it was killing the same stuff around for days
in the same areas before being allowed to move to a new one...

Umm the game is about quests, not killing stuff.

Yes, IMHO the interaction part is very important after the first few
days. I'm amazed you couldn't find anyone though I think it depends on
the serer you're in (I am in Argent Dawn for instance - European AD,
BTW, and I've even found a guild to join).
