Once upon a time, I was a newbie to the Internet. This was years ago
in the fabled time of 1998. Around this same time I had gotten a
wonderful little game that I enjoyed very much, called simply
'Creatures'. I posted now and again to this newsgroup, mostly annoying
people with my youthful stupidity but also making good friends. A few
of the names of those that posted frequently still stick clearly in my
mind: Lis Morris, Alyssa, Das, Ping, Slink, AntiNorn, Emy... the list
goes on. I held on to the series, becoming an Early Adopter for
Creatures 2 and waiting eagerly for Creatures 3. Then, my Creatures 3
disc somehow got a huge scratch and was unable to be used. I fell out
of touch with the games and with the community, and went on with my
newfound life as a hopeless anime addict.
Then, a couple of days ago I was overcome with this desire to play the
first game again. Considering the age of the game, it loaded within
seconds on my current computer, and before I knew it I heard that
familiar ticking clock and crackling fire of the Incubator room.
Nothing is quite as sweet as re-addiction to an old beloved past-time.
